1 Wakorintho 13:1-13

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

13:4 Upendo huvumilia, hufadhili; upendo hauhusudu; upendo hautakabari; haujivuni;

13:5 haukosi kuwa na adabu; hautafuti mambo yake; hauoni uchungu; hauhesabu mabaya;

13:6 haufurahii udhalimu, bali hufurahi pamoja na kweli;

13:7 huvumilia yote; huamini yote; hutumaini yote; hustahimili yote.

13:8 Upendo haupungui neno wakati wo wote; bali ukiwapo unabii utabatilika; zikiwapo lugha, zitakoma; yakiwapo maarifa, yatabatilika.

13:9 Kwa maana tunafahamu kwa sehemu; na tunafanya unabii kwa sehemu;

The Mark and Number of the Beast

Monday, November 2, 2009

revelation

The second beast of Revelation 13 will cause “all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” (verses 16-17).

What is behind this strange-sounding practice? How will it affect people as the time of the end draws near?

There is historical evidence that, in the ancient Babylonian culture, slaves “were identified … [by] some kind of mark, either tattooed or branded on the face or the back of the hand … ” (H.W.H. Saggs, The Greatness That Was Babylon, 1962, p. 173). There may be parallels between this ancient practice and what God reveals will happen in the end time.

Many have speculated about the meaning of this puzzling prophecy. Some interpret it in terms of supercomputers, unique personal identity numbers and even microchips embedded under the skin.

However, we should consider that receiving a mark on the hand or forehead could well be figurative. Remember from Revelation 7:3 that God’s servants were sealed on their foreheads. And in Deuteronomy 6 Moses told God’s people to “keep all His statutes and His commandments,” noting, “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as front lets between your eyes” (verses 2, 8). The hand and forehead here represent one’s actions and thoughts respectively—which should be dedicated to obeying God.

Likewise the mark of the Beast is evidently a mark of disobedience to God. Many Bible students have pointed to God’s seventh-day Sabbath as an identifying sign of His people in Exodus 31:12-17 and see the mark of the Beast as running counter to it. They believe that forced observance of Sunday—a day originally dedicated to the worship of the sun as a god instead of the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath—could be involved. This view is strengthened by the fact that other prophecies in the book of Revelation show a great counterfeit religious figure and system will play major roles in leading people away from the true God and play into Satan’s hands at this time.

The Bible does not explicitly define the specific methods that the Beast will use to identify those free to participate in -commerce at the time of the end. Some sort of advanced surveillance may be involved.

As to the number of the Beast, 666, we are told to “count the number” and that it is “the number of a man” (Revelation 13:18). One early explanation is attributed to John’s disciple Polycarp, who, according to his student Irenaeus, said this number is derived from adding together the numerical equivalents of the letters in the word Lateinos, the Greek word for “Roman”—this being the name of the Beast empire, its ruler and everyone in it. So the number may well denote this general distinction, though it could also be more specific.

However this prophecy is fulfilled, it is clear that it will involve compromising and contradicting God’s commands. Having proof that one is officially associated in some way with the Beast will be necessary for one to be allowed to engage in commerce.

Exactly how the end-time number of the Beast, 666, will be used and applied is not yet clear. But in some way it will be associated with the Beast’s name and applied to his evil activities.

Wanawake watakaoingia ‘uchi’ kanisani kuvalishwa khanga

Monday, November 2, 2009

Sweden’s Lutheran church to celebrate gay weddings

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

STOCKHOLM — Sweden’s Lutheran Church decided Thursday to allow gay marriages in its places of worship, five months after they became legal.

Nearly 70 percent of the 250 members of the Church of Sweden’s synod voted to allow same-sex couples to marry in its congregations from November 1 and adopted a marriage rite for gay weddings, the church said in a statement.

The Church of Sweden, which was the state church until 2000, had backed the parliament’s adoption of the gay marriage law, which took effect on May 1. But it deferred its synod’s decision on church weddings until now.

Sweden, already a pioneer in giving same-sex couples the right to adopt children, becomes one of the first countries in the world to allow gays to marry in a major Church.

Around three in four Swedes are members of the Lutheran Church.

The country’s largest gay rights group, RFSL, welcomed the protestant church’s decision.

“RFSL congratulates the Church of Sweden for its decision, your homosexual and bisexual members will finally be able to feel a little more welcome within society,” it said in a statement.

But the group was disappointed that ministers can refuse to celebrate a gay marriage. In such cases, the Church should find another priest for the ceremony.

The country’s smaller Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches said they were disappointed by the Lutherans’ decision.

“It is with sadness that we learn about the decision by the synod of the Church of Sweden,” Fredrik Emanuelson, a leader of the Roman Catholic Church, and Orthodox church senior official Misha Jaksic said in a joint statement.

“In our churches and communities, we will not unite homosexual couples since it is in complete contradiction with the tradition of the church and our vision of creation,” they said.

Mungiki sect head freed in Kenya

Monday, October 26, 2009

By Moses Njagih

Mungiki leader Maina Njenga is a free man. The State dropped 29 counts of murder against him after spending more than two years in jail. The High Court in Nyeri acquitted Njenga of murder charges in the Mathira massacre where 29 people were hacked to death. He has been in custody for 29 months. The surprise move came barely three days after he threatened to provide what his lawyers termed ‘damning information’ against top State officials who he claimed orchestrated his arrest and detention.

maina

Maina Njenga enters Jesus is Alive Ministries Church, Nairobi.

On Tuesday, his lawyers led by Paul Muite said Njenga would swear an affidavit in which he would give the damning evidence against State officials.

Muite said Njenga was demanding protection as a witness, but the AG was yet to respond to the request.

He said Njenga had given the lawyers the go-ahead to prepare the evidence.

It was also just a day after the court ordered him to take a plea to the charges after six months of cat-and-mouse legal games with the State.

On Friday, Central Province Senior Principal State Counsel Charles Orinda told Justice Joseph Sergon he had instructions from the Attorney General Amos Wako to terminate the case.

He said the instructions were given through the Director of Public Prosecution Mr Keriako Tobiko.

Also enjoying the reprieve through the nolle prosequi entered by AG were 18 other youths separately charged with the same offence.

Njenga had five lawyers ; Mr Robert Asembo, Muite, Mr Kibe Mungai, Mr Mbiyu Kamau and Mr Evans Ondiek.

He was arraigned in court on May 11 to face 29 counts of murder, but for the six months that he was in remand at King’ong’o Prison in Nyeri, he declined to take pleas, as he had filed a constitutional reference case in Nairobi to challenge the legality of his trial.

In his constitutional case, he insisted that on the night of April 21 and 22, when he allegedly committed the offences, he was still serving time in Manyani.

Tight security

On Thursday, when Justice Sergon ordered him to take a plea, Njenga declined to answer to the charges read to him, prompting the judge to enter a plea of ‘not guilty’ as the law requires.

The judge consequently ruled hearing of the case against Njenga and three others be heard on December 10. On April 29, Njenga was freed after serving barely half of a jail term slapped for possessing a gun and drugs. He was however re-arrested soon after. The security at the court was tight. Central Provincial Police boss, John Mbijjiwe sat barely two metres from the dock from where Njenga followed proceedings.

Outside security was tight and when Njenga walked out free, a cordon was formed around him as he boarded a prison van back to King’ong’o for clearance.

Next plan

His supporters demanded he addresses them. But he opted to address a press conference saying he had no grudge against his tormentors.

Hii ni hali ya maisha,” he said as he struggled to contain the surging crowd that competed to shake his hand. Mr Njuguna Gitau, the leader of Mungiki’s political wing, was among those present.

He said his priority would be to bury his wife who died more than a year ago.

The other goal, he said, was to be baptised. He then left with a convoy of 20 cars to Nairobi and headed to Jesus is Alive Ministries where he was recieved by Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.

Njenga said he had ‘seen the light’ and urged other sect members to also denounce the sect’s activities.

Wanjiru said she would soon baptise him to signify a ‘rebirth’ and also invited other sect’s followers.

Kupanda na Kuvuna katika maana ya Rohoni Wagalatia 6:7-10, Mithali 19:29

Monday, October 26, 2009

a)      Mawazo

Tena mtu akinitumikia, Baba atamheshimu“.

Tupande mambo muhimu matatu WAKATI WOTE (interchangeably)

Msichana, unautumiaje muda wako, kinywa chako?

Monday, October 26, 2009

ladies

Muda tumegawiwa sawa sawa.

Binti aliyeokoka anaukomboa muda wake.

(i) Kwa ajili ya kuendeleza ufalme wake

Aliyekuwa Sheikh awaasa watu kutubu

Monday, October 12, 2009

Worship – I

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

worship

Worship is to adore reverently, to feel deep devoted love for, to regard with respect and with great awe and devotion.

Meaning behind the Hebrew words for worship.

  • SHACHAH (7812) – to prostrate, reflex in homage to royalty or God, bow self down, crouch, fall down flat, throw oneself down before someone, kneel down, humbly beseech, do (make)
    obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship. Ps. 5:7, 22:27, 29, 29:2, 45:11, 66:4, 81:9, 86:9, 95:6, 96:9, 97:7, 99:5, 9, 132:7, 138:2,
Ex 34:8, 2 Chron 20:18, bowed and worshiped.
Gen 22:5, He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.”(NIV).
  • CAGAD (5457) – to prostrate oneself in homage, fall down, worship
  • YADAH – to throw out hands; to worship with extended hands, Ps. 134:2 (bless)
  • BARAK – to bow down in a worshipful attitude expecting to receive, yield, Ps. 103:1-2 (bless)

Ps. 29:1-2, worship the Lord in holy array or in the beauty of holiness, 96:9

John 4:23-24, Rev 5:11-14, Neh 9:6, the multitudes of heaven worship You.

When we worship we:

  • Reverence (fear), respect, give ourselves to totally, know (we can only worship to the degree we know), trust in totally, center of our lives, have full security in, adoration, love, is first priority.
  • Worship is more than songs it is our lives, and heart attitude.
  • Words and songs are not needed.

Worship is:

  • Respect for God the Holy One and the Great One. Ministering unto God.
  • To pour out ones love and adoration before Him.
  • A heart attitude of humility. Humbling of yourself under God – has to do with worship.
  • Worship is not a musical activity but a function of the heart.
  • It is an outpouring of our whole being in the presence of God, it is an out flowing of our deepest love and adoration. Luke 10:27, to love the Lord with all your heart, Matt 4:10, Lk 4:8 to worship Him only.
  • Worship is birthed out of our understanding of God as He has revealed Himself to us through His word and as we have experienced Him in our lives.

Matt 4:10, Because Jesus said: Worship the Lord your God.
(Mt 2:1-2, 11, they came to worship Jesus. Mt 28:9, 16-17. Lk 24:52, Jn 9:38, Ph 2:10-11.) Heb 10:22, worship – draw near to God with true honest hearts in full assurance of faith and hearts purified from guilt.

John 4:23-24, God is calling His people into a greater intimacy with himself. God wants our hearts more than our service. He is not looking for worship as it is but He is looking for worshipers! A worshiper is one who lives worship, lives a lifestyle of worship! Lives lived in an attitude of worship in all that we do and say. Isa 29:13, Matt 15:7-9

2 Chr 16:9 for the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” (NIV)

Worship in spirit and in truth:

  • Have our mind involved.
  • Be through Jesus who is the truth and in accordance with God’s word – truth Jn 17:17.
  • Our hearts need to be true to God, pure.
  • Not hypocritical 1 Sam 15:24-31, the motivation wasn’t right. It is not to show others how spiritual we are, we are not to put on a spiritual front.
  • True worship gazes honestly into heaven and invites the cleansing presence of THS.
  • It is not enough to worship in sincerity but also in truth, the revealed truth of God in His word. Not just with the symbols of the tabernacle but the reality of it.
  • Our worship is no higher than our knowledge of God as worship flows our of a relationship with God which is strengthened by learning of Him through His word.

True worshipers – opposite of false worshipers. In spirit – opposite of going to a certain place. In truth – opposite of ceremonies, rituals and offerings.
Matt 15:8-9, These people honour me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men. (NIV)

  • · Worship is deep within us calling out to the deep in God.
  • · Worship requires a relationship, intimacy, giving and receiving. Open your heart to God as you worship Him. Don’t rush through it.

Ps. 46:10, there are times when our worship will not be full of words but will be a humble prostration of our souls before God, revering His greatness in silence and stillness. Worship involves “eye contact” with God. Worship is an expression of love. You can express that without words and with just eye contact.

Who can worship God?
Those who are born again can worship God as their spirits are alive to God.
Worship is for those who are childlike enough to just open up their hearts and respond to God in sincerity and honesty and enjoying a relationship of loving communion with Him

Where?
Jn 4:21-24, we can see here that worship is not bound to a certain place or time rather it is a function of the spirit of man reaching out to the Spirit of God.

…and when?
Matt 4:10, Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” (NIV)
Worship the Lord everyday. It is first priority to sit by the feet of Jesus. Second to serve. We excuse our lack of worship by pointing out the many things we do for God. We are somehow in a hurry to serve God and we neglect to worship Him. The greatest service will never be a substitute for worship.

What happens?
Ps. 46:4, in worship we partake of the very river that flows from the throne of God. The waters of Siloam whose course ran underneath and through Jerusalem and supplied the city with water. THS provides us with renewing water as we worship from our innermost beings, cleansing and refreshment over our souls. Eze 47:9, as the river of God begins to flow during our times of worship, it brings life, abundance and healing, washing over broken hearts and restoring parched souls.

Do your dreams have practical meaning to your life?

Monday, October 5, 2009
We all dream. Sleeping is one-third of our lives and dreaming a big part of that. It makes sense that we want to understand what our dreams are saying to us. Some can be playful, some dark, some very emotional, some just plain weird. But I believe dreams have significant meaning in our lives. They either speak of our past, our present and sometimes our future. 80-90% of your dreams are about you. Many people seek ways of interpretation, but if you haven’t sought the real source, then your chasing the truth away and it can be stolen. Seek the one who created the universe and you’ll find there is meaning to each image and object you see, even emotions that you feel are a big part in interpreting the true meaning. When you receive the truth you’ll receive your future!

Why did that happen in my dream?

You might see your dream for what will literally happen. Such as a tornado in a dream, we think (guess) that we will experience an actual tornado soon or sometime in our life. It could be, but highly unlikely (unless it’s a vision). It’s just one symbol of the many symbols that dreams have. Visions are what you see of literal events that will happen, see below for the difference. As you see the difference you’ll be able to recognize when your having a vision or a dream. Usually they are dreams and full of symbolism.

One truth to dreams that you need to know is, who gives you dreams. I’ll talk about that a little later, because there can be hidden warnings and deception.

DREAM LANGUAGE
You need a deep understanding of God’s prophetic dream language. Symbols can stump you, therefore it’s important to have the Holy Spirit direct you, but He’ll need something to work with. Start reading from christian dream interpreters and make a collection of what words mean in a prophetic language. For example your mom is in your dream, but your not sure why she did something. In a dream language we see that mom (mother) can mean different things. It could symbolize the Holy Spirit, Church, Source, Love, Kindness, Spiritual or Natural Mother.

The Holy Spirit will guide you into choosing the exact meaning so that you don’t misinterpret, and just make a mess. But in the beginning it might be a little messy, but you’ll get there. God only gives you piece by piece, hardly ever will it all come at you at once. You might have a dream journal full of dreams, and yet each dream has a few parts interpreted, some not started, and a few finished. Remember that Jesus is the finisher, the Holy Spirit is your guide, with God all things are possible for those who believe.

As you look at each object, person, number you begin to put a puzzle together. You might go through your day and the Holy Spirit will point something out for you, and you’re putting things together that represent a word in your dream.

All depending on the context of your dream and personal life, you’ll be able to pick and choose symbolic meanings with the Holy Spirit and eventually come to a conclusion. If your using a (Christian) Interpreter, you must always TEST it with the word of God and the Holy Spirit. Test, Test, Test! Someone might receive an interpretation for your dream (from God), but may not know your personal life, and may leave a part out or add their input to it… So test it before marking it off the list.

Another example: Automobile (can represent): Usually a Ministry, Calling (of God), your Life, Person; if it’s new: New Ministry, New way of Life; the more power in that vehicle the impact the ministry may have in the city or the world if it was a Large Truck.

Who Gave Me the Dream?

Since dreams are of a spiritual realm, the source is spiritual. Here are the sources of where dreams come from:

1 God / God’s Angels.
2 Satan / Satan’s Fallen Angels / Demons, the offspring of the Fallen Angels
3 Our own life experiences, wants and desires.

HOLY SPIRIT?
I’m talking a lot about the Holy Spirit and you might think what does that have to do with dreams? Everything. Interpretation from any other source will only lead you down a path that might seem perfect, but is clouded in lies. The enemy will give your a wrong interpretation cloaked with nice words, perhaps partly from God’s word, but altogether will result in destruction. He (devil) has come to steal, kill and destroy your dreams. The secular world and their powers are limited and cannot see what God’s revelation is for your life.

If you don’t know Jesus or that God has given us His Holy Spirit freely to guide us, give us wisdom and many gifts of the spirit, then come out of the dark and into the marvelous light! Receive the free gift today, and begin a new journey.

Vision or Dream?

Visions from God are literal and what is in your future. Dreams are symbols and represent something else, usually beginning with what the bible says about that word. Dreams from God can be a foreshadowing or warnings of something that is occurring or can occur, based on the decisions that the person who is having the dream or the person for whom the dream is intended makes. Dreams from Satan, Satan’s fallen angels and the demons are illusions of the truth, or truth mixed with lies and are given to mislead, confuse, and give us doubt.

Tufanyeje nafsi na miili yetu iwe na utii?

Monday, October 5, 2009
